- This paper lays the foundation for the exploration of design for infrastructure in HCI through a rich ethnographic study with over 90 participants in a developing context. The work received CHI 2019 Honourable Mention Award, and was disseminated via the media (International Business Times, Asian Scientist). It has also led to increased interest from Malay Government in leveraging technology for women’s empowerment and cultural heritage of songket weaving, and a £7K impact fund grant for further engagement with these policy makers, to be resumed after the Covid’19 lockdown. It has also led to £3.7M EPSRC Digital economy Centre: Future Places.
