- The Royal Navy in the Age of Austerity 1919-22 takes a ground-breaking approach to naval history combining naval and foreign Policy, with political economy, politics and cultural history as a means to understand the forces which shaped post-war government policy towards the Royal Navy. This innovative approach places it at the forefront of a "new, new naval history" The product of twenty years research, the study is based on comprehensive analysis of private papers, the Admiralty, Board of Trade, Cabinet, Colonial, Foreign Office, Treasury and War Office Papers at the National Archives, and extensive use of printed primary documents.
