- This work arose from a long standing collaboration with the Waterloo group. This is the first paper ever published on combined numerical and laboratory modelling of Mode 2 internal solitary wave encounters with narrow bottom topography in bounded stratified fluids typical of the oceans, with the numerical studies replicating the laboratory experimental conditions. The paper was cited in the most recent review of internal solitary wave dynamics in Annual Reviews of Fluid Mechanics (https://doi.org/10.1146/annurev-fluid-122316-045049) and has been used by oceanographers to interpret observations around a subsurface Atlantic atoll (https://doi.org/10.3389/fmars.2018.00528).
