- Double-weighted statement
- This 298 pp. monograph demonstrates sustained research effort through a complex argument about the modernisation discourses in social democratic parties in Britain and Germany between 1994 and 2003. It analyses how political language and political culture are related and how global political ideologies are adapted to local political circumstances. The book develops a new transdisciplinary approach to comparative politico-linguistic discourse analysis, combining analytical tools from linguistic discourse analysis and political science. It is comprehensive in its introduction of approaches from the German tradition of politico-linguistics, a tradition that thus far, has not been accessible to a non-German speaking readership.
