- This work presents a new wind-vehicle-bridge interaction (W-VBI) analysis framework to calculate the risk of vehicle accidents and users’ discomfort when crossing slender bridges under wind actions. The main novelty is the definition of the pavement irregularities as random surfaces, which allows a much more realistic vehicle-bridge interaction. The proposed W-VBI analysis is used in a complex bridge with 100 different pavement irregularity and turbulent wind records (an order of magnitude larger than in previous works), and after a rigorous statistical analysis it allowed to observe the crucial influence of the pavement irregularities in the driving accident risks.
