- This publication forms part of a PhD and wider ongoing project with Rolls-Royce plc and Cambridge University. The research involved the development of techniques to characterise and correlate gas washed surface finish with drag loss. The value of the project to Rolls-Royce has been demonstrated with directly related and ongoing research across a number of departments including: Turbine statics, Turbines Aerothermal, Compressors, and Civil aerospace experimental and in collaboration with Rolls-Royce engineers including: Frederic.Goenaga@Rolls-Royce.com, David.Newman@Rolls-Royce.com, Dougal.Jackson@Rolls-Royce.com, David.Lambie@Rolls-Royce.com, Michael.Whittle@Rolls-Royce.com. Currently, negotiations to develop deeper knowledge transfer into Rolls by way of KTP are under way.
