- This output took over five years to complete. It involved the creation of a critical edition of a primary source located in Malta: a 36-page 15th century manuscript written in extremely difficult to read mercantesca script in medieval Venetian dialect. The book embraced methodologies from palaeography, philology, linguistics, numismatics, economic, commercial, political, cultural, mathematics, business, education, and accounting history supported by archival studies in Malta, Venice, Florence, Pisa, and Treviso to support and inform the initial transcription, an Italian translation, a translation into English and the supporting critical apparatus.
