- This paper addresses the problem of synchronising renewable energy sources such as wind and solar with the grid, and proposes a novel method for smooth integration of renewable energy sources into the national grid. The frequency of the distorted grid voltage is accurately determined, and grid unbalances are quantified. A formula for adapting frequency is derived to guarantee global convergence of the estimated parameters. The work enhances the reliability, efficiency and safe operation of the grid, especially when integrated with renewable energy sources. The work has established fruitful collaboration between researchers at four international universities.
