- The inability to accurately localise bicycles on the road has been a hurdle in the development of much-needed technological solutions that would enable the understanding of cycling characteristics and the prevention of cyclist accidents. This paper addresses this gap by developing a localisation algorithm that relies upon low-cost on-board sensors and by implementing it on a prototype instrumented bicycle (iBike). The work enabled the author to set up a wider collaboration with the University of Southampton in assessing the interaction of road infrastructure and cycling
