- This is the first monograph to study poetry translation from a sociological and quantitative perspective. It draws on a corpus of nearly 500 European poets and all of their translations, which were for the first time painstakingly gathered over the course of a lengthy period of data collection. The analysis contextualises these translations over more than a hundred years with reference to literary, political, and historical trends. At the same time, there are specific case representative case studies to provide a complementary view on poetry translation. In short, this monograph builds on wideranging interdisciplinary research.
