- Development of direct current transmission systems, which are key players in future energy systems, is impeded by the lack of appropriate fault protection for the terminal converter stations. Former solutions are classified under one of three categories of solutions. The main contribution of the paper is introducing a fourth category of converter station protection. It also develops many circuit topologies that fall under this category. The paper inspired further search in this proposed category of solutions (e.g. https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/7983389). The paper is published in one of the top three publications in the field of electric power transmission (Journal impact factor 3.681).
