- Double-weighted statement
- The transnational, multi-site research for this monograph required considerable methodological and linguistic range and was conducted in three foreign languages (Portuguese, Spanish, and Guarani). The author was able to secure the first-ever access to the holdings of the Itaipu Binational Corporation and consulted over thirty additional archives across Brazil and Paraguay. The archival research was complemented by nearly 50 oral history interviews with farmers, landless peasants, indigenous groups, community leaders, and politicians on both sides of the aisle.
