- This is a research monograph of 300 pages, co-written equally by each author. It is the first full-length academic study of the most popular and influential sitcom in the world, conducting detailed analysis of the aesthetics of the series, its critical reception and cultural significance, across the 236 episodes of its 10 year run. It draws on interviews with key creative figures behind the show including the co-creator/show-runner, executive producer and art director. The authors deploy methodologies from across television studies and cultural studies, using Friends to highlight tendencies and blind-spots within these fields.
