- The volume Theatre as Voyeurism: The Pleasures of Watching (Palgrave) is edited by George Rodosthenous and consists of 10 chapters and an Introduction. Rodosthenous led the research underpinning the edited volume as editor and author of the Introduction and the final chapter. The nine chapters were specially commissioned to work within the Five Parts of the book and feature a range of international scholars. As editor, Rodosthenous paired the chapters within each Part (two Chapters per Part) and in order to achieve a genuine academic dialogue between them, the authors were encouraged to share and discuss their draft chapters before final submission. Rodosthenous’ editorial process included leading the creation and categorisation of new knowledge with a specific research agenda focusing on theatre as voyeurism, editing and sending revisions for each chapter; in addition, he was responsible for all production matters and engagement with Palgrave, organised and arranged copyright clearance for the images and cover, managed contributor agreements, chapter abstracts and the Index. The substantial Introduction Staring at the Forbidden: Legitimizing Voyeurism (9, 389 words) and Chapter 10 “Outlying Islands as theatre of voyeurism: Ornithologists, naked bodies and the ‘pleasure of peeping’” (5, 749 words) were authored by Rodosthenous. The overall editorial process took place over three years and the refinements incorporated responses to feedback from two independent peer reviewers.
