- This extensive empirical research provides an in-depth understanding of the complex relationships between public authorities, maintenance organisations and the public engaged in the civic responsibilities of highways maintenance. In particular, it identifies practical considerations academic and industrial designers of civic engagement services should comprehend in order to provision tools that engender capabilities to facilitate greater levels of trust. Published in CHI conference, this work has led to significant impact in both academia and industry providing justification for on-going research projects totalling £388k in funding, consultancy and commercial products from InTouch Ltd, a transport sector technology provider.
