- This is the principal output from a four-year research project funded by the Leverhulme Trust. The underpinning research included a systematic and sustained engagement with a century-long run of specialised archival records held by three international organizations: World Health Organization, International Committee of the Red Cross, and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. The research process included the integration, analysis and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative materials in multiple languages, combined with the preparation of some 200 specially drawn maps, diagrams and other illustrative materials, to achieve a global synthesis of a major human health issue over a 115-year period.
