- Double-weighted statement
- This is a substantial work: 250,000 words, 39 chapters, and 564 pages. It is the first reappraisal of the making of the union in any language since 1919, and the first study in English. It is based on original research on a wide range of primary and secondary sources in eleven languages. It draws on over thirty years of work on Polish-Lithuanian history. The research on which it is based and the writing was undertaken between 2009 and 2015, three of them on a full time British Academy/Wolfson research chair.
