- This 546 page volume is the outcome of a 4-year project funded by ERC. Pluskowski directed a team of nine specialists, and a range of partners, to produce this study of the environmental impact of crusading and the accompanying process of settlement, landscape reorganisation and religious transformation in the medieval eastern Baltic. The volume provides an inter-regional suite of studies, including a cascading series of syntheses which he produced. The scale and scope of the work is demonstrated by the time commitment, the range of multi-scalar analyses consisting of archaeological, environmental, cartographic and written sources, as well as integrative syntheses.
