- This is a research monograph and a “longer-form output”. It includes 342 pages, and approx. 110K words. It was researched over an eight year period between 2010 and 2018, with a further year for book production. The author has accessed 16 physical archives in the US, UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and France as well as 39 digital collections, including previously overlooked personal and state papers, classified documents and oral histories. The sources allow the author to uncover McNamara’s concerns for the Vietnam War and his loyalty to the Presidency, despite his public support for the War.
