- This monograph is the culmination of international collaborative zooarchaeological research that began in 1993. It incorporates a large body of data (over 100,000 bone fragments) from Novgorod and sites in its territory. In addition to the detailed studies into mammal, bird and fish remains, it incorporated documentary and artefactual evidence to produce a holistic investigation into the relationships between humans and animals in Novgorod lands during the period when it was at its the height of its international influence.
