- This book is a work of approximately five years of original research. It brings together a diverse array of material to comment on an important but difficult and neglected text dating from the Seventeenth Century. Six surviving manuscript copies written in Latin have been transcribed and translated by the Professor Ford. This is accompanied by a comprehensive and exhaustive introduction bringing to light material that is effectively otherwise impenetrable. This work informs much of the modern law of admiralty. The book is unique in Scots law and places Scots law in its context of European maritime law more generally.
