- Double-weighted statement
- I would like my monograph 'Inventing the Way of the Samurai: Nationalism, Internationalism, and Bushido in Modern Japan' to be double-weighted. It was the result of 10 years of work in Japanese, British, and North American archives, focused on primary sources in modern and classical Japanese. Working in these difficult languages prolonged the research process. It is a substantial book of 135,000 words, and the first monograph study on the subject in any language, covering four centuries of history from the early 1600s to the present.
