- The lead editor played the dominant role in co-editing the volume, co-writing the introduction, pp. 1-16, as well as contributing a chapter, pp. 51-73. This volume grew out of research sustained in the unit’s Scottish Romanticism Research Group (SRRG), co-founded by the submitting author in 2010. Its specific impetus was a 2015 SRRG symposium on improvement in Scotland during the long eighteenth century, bringing together both emerging and established scholars whose work has helped shaped key conceptual aspects in the field of Scottish Romanticism. The author and co-editor agreed to develop the volume with the symposium contributors and publishers Routledge.
