- As a monograph this output is longer-form, and it demonstrates a sustained research effort over five years. A large body of material was collected and analysed over this lengthy period, comprising online chats from genuine undercover police operations in investigations into child sexual exploitation, role-played online chats between police trainers and trainee officers, Dark Web interactions between child sex offenders, and experimentally generated online chats. The theme of the role of language in the performance of online identity was investigated in considerable depth.
