- A suitable Finite Element technique to simulate the structural response, collapse mechanism, and structural fire resistance of a novel cold-formed steel building subject to severe fire test, was developed. This research is significant because it broadens the knowledge on the structural behaviour of the cantilever wall buildings, not covered by the existing design codes, and confirms their suitability. The research was initiated by the EcoSteel Sdn Bhd, Malaysia and structural fire resistance of the prototype was successfully established. As a result of the research, the product compliance with the New Zealand building regulations was also demonstrated.
