- Sulphur compounds are the most notorious and undesirable petroleum contaminants. This study explored a novel oxidative desulfurization method for the removal of such contaminants. We designed two new synthetic catalysts (MnO2 and Co3O4 based) using impregnation characterisation method and tested in a reactor under various operating conditions. This work is a result of collaboration with Tikrit University (Iraq) which led to further research on the use of MnO2 catalyst for oxidative desulphurisation of light naphtha with Tikrit and Ministry of Oil (Iraq) and resulted in a publication in 2020 .
