- This 80,000-word (240pp) monograph is the first major new biography of Lorca in 20 years and is the result of eight years of research, including extensive work in archives throughout Spain (consulting Lorca’s and others’ collections of books, manuscripts, letters, drawings, paintings and musical scores). It is a literary biography, combining newly-researched biographical detail with new and detailed analyses of all the major texts, from the juvenilia to the later plays and poems, all of which are explored as products of the specific places and contexts (vital, social, political, literary) in which they originated.
