- Finlay was solely responsible for the translation of the saga, including co-ordinating the version found in the primary manuscript (the earliest manuscript of the saga, which has never appeared in English translation before) with that of the much later manuscript Flateyjarbók, which supplies text missing from the now fragmentary early manuscript. Finlay also provided explanatory notes to the translation. Finlay and Jóhannesdóttir were jointly responsible for the introduction
