- This book represents more than five years of sustained research effort by the author, as well as collaborations with several colleagues from different institutions in what was a large and complex research project. It describes and evaluates the compilation of a large body of linguistic material – an 11.5-million-word corpus of transcribed conversations among members of the public across the UK. Several aspects of the content of the book depended upon the completion of several years of data collection and analysis, spanning the years 2013-2017.
