- The research began in 2006 and was sustained over a period of almost ten years. It involved incorporating findings from unexplored archives located in many cities in Europe and America as well as an extensive oral history campaign. It also connects to scholarship on the history of the Venice Biennale, one of the most important cultural institution in Europe throughout the twentieth century. In 2017, it was awarded the Alice Davis Hitchcock medallion by the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain, a prize described as "the most prestigious prize in the discipline" awarded for outstanding contributions to architectural history.
