- This book is a longer-form output that demonstrates sustained research effort. The data was gathered over an 18 month period, and in order to move from PhD to book format it underwent three rounds of peer review on the proposal and full manuscript over a period of three years. The book outlines a substantial new argument for how to understand classical music in context which has the potential to strongly shape the fields of musicology, music education, and sociology of music.
