- MXenes, a rapidly emerging class of 2D laminar materials with properties that rival/outperform graphene. Herein the first example of MXenes to have had templated morphological change beyond sheets; using Ti2C, leading to plates, crumpled sheets, spheres and scrolls. This was facilitated by inherent properties of calixarene derivatives. This allows wider avenues of discovery/design from new morphologies for the wider family of MXenes beyond Ti2C, to exploit physico-chemical properties proffered. This work has strengthened our international collaboration (Australia) leading to two further publications of MXenes (2020), and strengthened existing UK collaborations. Contributed to experimental design and development, materials, analysis and writing.
