- This monograph of 100,000+ words examines the shaping of Russian memory of World War Two over 75 years. It is the fruit of sustained, complex work in nine difficult to access and use Russian archives: the archive of the Ministry of Defence is closed to non-Russian citizens, and researchers denied access to a catalogue. The book draws on tools from history and cultural studies to connect the varied sources which span film, photography, television and parades with government policy, official history writing and museum curation, to produce a sustained and insightful discussion of the ?cult? of the war.
