- In this paper, the wear model for a boundary lubricated tribological system in a range of testing conditions is developed and validated with experiments. The wear model incorporates the effect of interfacial layers and is implemented in a fast contact mechanics solver for the first time, and predictions were reported for different cases. The hypothesis and the numerical wear model were validated against experimental work with careful design of experiments. The wear model has been used by Komatsu, Japan, and different wear models have been developed across the community based on the current paper.
