- This paper came from research funded through EPRSC IAA and STFC (ST/L502583/1). As a direct result of the technology developed herein, the authorship team secured £1.1M of follow-on funding (NIHR – MIDOs - II-C3-0714-20001) https://www.fundingawards.nihr.ac.uk/award/II-C3-0714-20001 to bring together academics, NHS clinicians and industry, to develop a prototype surgical device. Follow-on papers by the team (in particular Journal of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Volume 13, Issue 3, March 2019, Pages 396-405) have demonstrated the potential of this technology for bone regeneration.
