- Double-weighted statement
- This is the first comprehensive analytical study of the forces shaping Iran and its relations with the rest of the world since and prior to 1979 when the forces unleashed by the Pahalvi monarchy's modernization process established a context for revolution. It draws on plural theoretical perspectives to understand the evolution of the post-1979 neo-authoritarian political system and analyzes the new political elites and their role as instigators of change, the stresses that the system is under, the forces shaping its political economy, and the international relations through which the Islamic Republic engages with the rest of the world.
