- The Carlyle Letters is an international collaborative project supported by the University of Edinburgh and Duke University Press producing both print and digital editions of the correspondence of two prolific and influential nineteenth-century writers. Each volume (48 so far published) is based on extensive archival research into previously unseen material, each letter accompanied by textual and contextual notes. All members of the editorial team (for this volume including Jonathan Wild) contribute to the research process, which involves discovery and analysis of archival material, historical and biographical research, textual editing and annotation. For this volume Wild also wrote the Introduction.
