- A novel model to predict wear-corrosion problem in advanced materials has been developed. As a result, this research portfolio attracted funding from the Ministry of Defence UK, Schaeffler Germany and National University of Science and Technology Pakistan (£93K direct and £36K in-kind). The research is on Wear-corrosion synergistic failures which are unpredictable and result in significant proportion of capital costs in the automotive industry. This new knowledge is significant in terms of predicting wear-corrosion failures and will bring major benefits to automotive and aerospace industries in terms of reduced maintenance costs, durability and reliability of systems.
