- Timing flows and introducing incubation times on a constantly spinning microfluidics disc (LoaD) is a serious challenge for successful integration of laboratory unit operations on LoaD. The article provides a solution to this problem, incorporating sacrificial valving within paper microfluidics. This impactful study enables the development of single-use cartridges for point-of-care early diagnostics of breast cancer. The cartridge approach is affordable and easy to use, it can be deployed and utilised by anyone thus facilitating massive screening. Such development would reduce morbidity and mortality from the disease due to timely diagnostics at a minimal cost.
