- Evans contributed to this paper by combining Aberystwyth University's diamond surface expertise and measurements with synchrotron expertise in Australia and spin expertise at Harvard and Princeton to collectively optimise the process for preparing oxidised diamond surfaces for applications based on near-surface NV quantum centres. Results were shared and combined ahead of separate publications and all groups were involved with the design and writing of the paper. Evans UPS measurements correlated the improved spin properties with the highest reported work function for any diamond surface.
