- This monograph is the culmination of 5 years of sustained research. The complex research analysed primary sources including: interviews with musicians, musical directors, composers and sound designers; archival research in the Arts Council archives at the V&A collection, the Delia Derbyshire collection at Manchester University, the Musicians’ Union archives at Stirling University and the performance records of the RSC (DSM ‘bible’, musical score, band parts, script, photographs and notes) for selected performances over a period of 55 years. This multi-layered process of investigation resulted in the critical insights that explore the topic in considerable depth and disseminated in the monograph.
