- This is a sole-authored work published by Routledge (2019) pp.1-182, presented via six chapters and conclusion. The book is a longitudinal study of American architectural school graduates Over three years, Thompson made a thorough literature review of the architecture student experience and brought together contemporary scholarship from education and occupational health to develop a new theory of occupational engagement. The project employed a set of narrative-based methods novel to the field, based upon a series of in-depth interviews/focus groups with USA students. It presents an argument for foregrounding identity transformation as the key construct for architectural education.
