- This paper presented the subjective and objective results of a verification test of High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard (ITU-T H.265 and ISO/IEC 23008-2) as compared with its highly successful predecessor, the Advanced Video Coding (AVC) standard. The outcome is also a Standardised contribution (https://mpeg.chiariglione.org/standards/mpeg-h/high-efficiency-video-coding/n14420-report-hevc-compression-performance ). The initial results of this work was presented in IBC 2014 conference and was selected for Best of IET and IBC papers 2014 (https://www.theiet.org/media/1641/ibc2014.pdf ) and the full paper was awarded Best Paper Award 2017 of IEEE Transaction of Circuit and System for Video Technology and downloaded by more than 22,000.
