- This research resulted in a follow-on project funded by WAAM3D, a Cranfield spin-out set up in 2018 (https://www.cranfield.ac.uk/business/develop-your-technology-and-products/spin-out-and-start-up-companies) to provide technologies and services for wire-based additive manufacturing (WAAM) of metals. In 2020, WAAM3D raised a £1.5M investment from Accuron Technologies, Singapore, an international engineering company. WAAM3D recently moved from Cranfield Eagle Labs incubator (https://labs.uk.barclays/locations/cranfield) to premises in Milton Keynes, employing 15 people and already has orders worth £2.5M (CEO, Contact Details: Audit_file_26127007).
