- Ralph Dietl, The Strategic Defense Initiative
This is a very substantial work. Based on significant work in the archives, it considers a major subject in the politics of arms control during the US Presidency of Ronald Reagan. It is original in unearthing new material and does so thoughtfully in defence of a coordinated argument and a re-evaluation of existing theses on the Cold war. The depth of the archival work and the argumentative thrust of the book warrant double-weighting.
