- Additional information
- This work examined new high resolution images of the fly brain and then combined it with the known literature to develop a new standard atlas (i.e. 3D map). It is now the standard reference for insect brain anatomy cited by almost every fly neuroscience paper since its publication. Our efforts focussed on making the biological text computationally tractable. The nomenclature/ontology has now been taken up by all on-line databases and resources in the field including virtualflybrain.org which implemented the ontology and provides a graphic user interface to large scale neuroscience datasets.
