- Additional information
- This output is from work on auxetic foams for sporting and healthcare applications (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02jfq9q, https://theconversation.com/the-seashell-inspired-material-inspiring-a-new-wave-of-safety-gear-in-sport-42092), informed by consultancies with Nike (foam product, 2015) and BASF (foam processing, 2015 & 2016), and research assistant projects with Sheffield Children’s Hospital (foam scaffolds, 2016 & 2017). The work formed a major component of the PhD completion by co-author Dr O. Duncan, leading to further consultancy with Babolat (foam product, 2017), and a co-funded VC scholarship (PhD) with Pioneer Healthcare Ltd (tissue engineering, 2018-present). The collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University was followed up with joint funding of a PDRA developing foam for sports (2019).
