- This research monograph is based on a 3-year AHRC-funded research project and presents critical insights based upon the collection and analysis of a large body of materials. The materials include primary sources which were extended and diverse in scope and medium, comprising scientific texts, travel diaries, artwork, military technology, training manuals and personal correspondence. The materials were sourced by the author from across several archives, museums, galleries and libraries, including the Dean Art Gallery, Imperial War Museum, National Archives and Cambridge University Zoology Museum.
