- This paper introduces a novel numerical model for cross-bonded high voltage cables, a methodology for simulation of cable sheath currents and a method to determine faults. It is the first in the field to study different scenarios and come up with diagnosis criteria, based on the improved model presented in the paper. The work was part of long term collaboration between GCU and Wuhan University, with the results applied to a number of Chinese companies via Wuhan University. It helped GCU to win a £229k contract from Scottish Power in 2019. Highly cited (31 citations up to Nov 2020).
