- As one in a series of related papers to develop routing protocols for UWSNs, this paper is the first to substantiate the appropriateness of opportunistic approach to address the void problem in UWSNs with unreliable and lossy links. Its novelty lies in its construction of an adjacency graph to select a forwarding set that holds the best trade-off between reliability and energy efficiency. Others, such as (N. Javaid et al., Sensors 2017) and (M. Rahman et al., IEEE Access 2017), were inspired later by the idea as evident by more than 50 citations during the first two years since publication.
